The Community Preparedness and Resilience Recognition
Southeast Nebraska MRC (NE)
The Southeast Nebraska MRC (NE) covers 16 counties in rural Nebraska and has a tremendous impact across their region, logging an incredible 5,179 total hours with an economic value of more than $247,429 in 2024. They averaged close to four activities per week, which is remarkable considering they only have 42 volunteers. They meet and train monthly to provide medical standby and preparedness education for many different community, entertainment, and sporting events such as Disney on Ice, Fourth of July festivities, the Nebraska Sports Council AAU Volleyball tournament, the Apple Jack Festival, youth football leagues, the Cornhusker State Games, and many more. Public engagement is a priority, if you come to get a bottle of water or first aid, you will walk away with your needs met, information on health and preparedness, and questions answered.
Two volunteers have already been recognized for their outstanding work in the unit in the past year; one by the Red Cross for collaborative work between their respective organizations and the other by the Governor of Nebraska for the Disaster Volunteer of the Year. Now they can add 2025 MRC V.I.S.I.O.N. Recognition recipient!
