Matthew A. Van Patton, DHA, MA, is a health and human services executive, policy advisor, and healthcare strategist with more than 25 years of experience across government, health systems, health information technology, and entrepreneurship. He previously served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, focusing on public health policy, data modernization, and interoperability, and as Chief of Staff to United States Congressman Trey Gowdy (SC-04). As Nebraska’s Director of Medicaid and Long-Term Care, he led a $2.3 billion program serving more than 240,000 beneficiaries, strengthening population health management and managed care accountability.

Dr. Van Patton held executive roles at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, contributing to strategic planning, organizational development, and more than $500 million in system expansion. He also founded several venture-backed technology companies focused on improving transitions of care and medical staffing.

His expertise spans Medicaid managed care, value-based care, public health infrastructure, health data governance, and organizational strategy. Across these areas, he translates policy, data, and strategy into practical improvements in healthcare and public health systems. Dr. Van Patton holds a Doctor of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts from Seton Hall University
